Mandy 10.0 RC1 ETH0 fail and network down!

Hi!

I am fed up with my problem. I am using mandy for a while now and it's the first big problem.

I am booting with a failed eth0

I tried to connect with all sort of configurations, nothing.
I followed instructions from this forum with similar problems with no luck.

I tried modprobe tulip, added it to /etc/modprobe.preload.

The best I could get is to get it to pass at boot but still cannot connect.

I am using ADSL with a Static IP. Everything is set up correctly but still can't connect.

When I press the connect button. it sends data, I see my modems light going on/off but 0 bytes received. I always send 140 bytes.

I rechecked my config many times but it is becoming very frustrating.

I never had problems like that with 9.2

I installed with a fresh install, so I don't have anything from 9.2 install

Anyone can help me before I kick Mandy 10.0 out the window??

Thanks

Rich

Same as mine with 10RC1 eth0 fails. It has to do with hotplug in network options. I turned mine off and all is well.

Turning off the hot plugging only keeps the 'failed' message at boot from appearing. I have had the no-network problem in rc2, in my case it was tied to the host name.

I am not 100% sure, but I think that the install tries to connect via dhcp (maybe for auto update download) if you don't set up the network during one of the last steps of the install (when you can review all of the options like x-setup, location, etc). I set up my host/IP and no matter what I did, the network would not come up. I ended up re-installing with the network cable disconnected and then it worked upon reboot (after reconnecting the cat5 of course).

I did a search on the cooker bug list and found 2 that were like this. There were also a few free posts on the cooker mailing list. The gist of the posts seemed to say that drakconnect was undergoing a lot of changes and that this would be fixed soon. I have not had a chance to install rc1, so who knows.

Anyway, I gave up before solving the problem, but if you are into it, make sure your host name is in /etc/hosts, and check out /etc/sysconfig/network and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0. The network file is where you can turn off hotplugging (also in drakconnect).

Hi!
I tried all that, verified all my files for my IP adress, host etc. All is fine!

Cannot connect tough, I don't know what to do now. I am clueless.
