Installed in November 2005
In short :
The installation is done without problem with with dimensions of Windows xp, partitionement does not pose a particular problem. With little close all the material (Ethernet port, usb, touchpad, engraver of DVD) correctly is detected and installed well.
not tested: wi-fi.
Some small concern which required some configurations not always obvious:
- (of memory) the chart its did not function,
- imposible to connect me with my modem Bewann ADSL USB.
This concern (about)was fortunately solved.
What still does not function:
* My modem Bewann ADSL USB
* The internal modem seems not to function (I did not have the occasion to test it)
* The acpi still does not seem to function:
o the ventilator functions permanently,
o KLaptop does not indicate the level of the battery to me.
Conclusion: Mandriva 10.2 is fonctionelle on the acer aspires 3000.
In detail:
The installation was carried out starting from CD provides by stores "Linux+ Extra Pack" (unfortunately, at the time of the opening of stores, I missed the MINOR ROADS 3 and 7) :
