Mandriva 2008 hybernate

Hi,

I am using mandriva 2008 and i just have a quick question about enabling hybernate.

I cannot find a button /option to hybernate the laptop (toshiba satellite m70) when i close the lid. there use to be an option in 2007 (power management i think) but i cant find one with 2008.

if someone can guide me i would be greatly thankful.

regards,

***********EDIT********************

Okay i found out that this time around i have kpowersave installed rather than klaptop. SO now my question is how do u enable hybernate on closing the lid (i assume suspend to disk == hybernate ??).
Another question would be whick one is the better option of the two. Kpowersave or Klaptop?

Thanx

IIRC you can configure kpowersave by right clicking on the "plug" or "battery" icon on the right hand side of the kicker. I've found kpowersave to be superior to klaptop.

To do your lid closing, right click on the kpowersave icon in the bottom right hand corner, then choose General Settings | Button Events. In there you'll see how to assign what functions to what. You can makle is suspent to RAM or disk IIRC.

I just can't get suspend to RAM to work on my laptop. I think it might be something to do with having a closed source nvidia driver. I'd love to get that going. Suspend to disk works, buit it's no faster than just powering down!

DiBosco, take a look at this article re suspending to ram with the nvidia driver:

http://en.opensuse.org/NVidia_Suspend_HOWTO

It's OpenSuse based but can be adapted to other distros. The key is to stop other AGP modules(eg intel_agp) from loading and force the use of nvidia's NvAGP module instead. You do that by blacklisting the unwanted AGP modules which is handled differently by different distros and editing xorg.conf to use the NvAGP module.
