Mandriva 2008 2.6.22.9-desktop-1mdv kernel source?

I am trying to install the correct kernel souce for Manriva 2008, with 2.6.22.9-desktop-1mdv kernel, I have tried a few different kernel sources, however it wont compile vmware-config.pl for me, does anyone out there have a clue what kernel-source I should use?

I saw another post staing to run "kernel-desktop586-devel-2.6.22.9-1mdv", but this wont work either.

Any tips "Nexus"?

Heres what I am getting:

[root@localhost stan]# vmware-config.pl
Making sure services for VMware Workstation are stopped.

Stopping VMware services:
Virtual machine monitor [ OK ]

Configuring fallback GTK+ 2.4 libraries.

In which directory do you want to install the mime type icons?
[/usr/share/icons]

What directory contains your desktop menu entry files? These files have a
.desktop file extension. [/usr/share/applications]

In which directory do you want to install the application's icon?
[/usr/share/pixmaps]

/usr/share/applications/vmware-workstation.desktop: error: value "vmware-workstation.png" for key "Icon" in group "Desktop Entry" is an icon name with an extension, but there should be no extension as described in the Icon Theme Specification if the value is not an absolute path
Error on file "/root/tmp/vmware-config0/vmware-workstation.desktop": Failed to validate the created desktop file
Use of uninitialized value in addition (+) at /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl line 802, <STDIN> line 3.
Unable to install the .desktop menu entry file. You must add it to your menus by
hand.

Trying to find a suitable vmmon module for your running kernel.

None of the pre-built vmmon modules for VMware Workstation is suitable for your
running kernel. Do you want this program to try to build the vmmon module for
your system (you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)? [yes]

Using compiler "/usr/bin/gcc". Use environment variable CC to override.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]

The directory of kernel headers (version @@VMWARE@@ UTS_RELEASE) does not match
your running kernel (version 2.6.22.9-desktop-1mdv). Even if the module were to
compile successfully, it would not load into the running kernel.

Have you tried installing just the matching kernel headers? Are you sure that you are using the latest VM?

I was using VMware 5.5, so I installed VMware player and had the same problem.

I finally solved it by installing this rpm:

kernel-desktop-devel-latest-2.6.22.9-1mdv2008.0.i586.rpm
