I haven't used the Cedega games engine for a few days and I've only done updates this week, now for some reason my Cedega games engine is missing

How do I install it again? directly from the MDK2007 DVD? Another way? Any ideas where it could have gone and why?

First, which Mandriva version do you use - the free download edition or the comercial with cedega included?
And what exactly do you mean by: "it's gone"? Is the menu entry gone or is it definately uninstalled? Open up a terminal and type What do you get?

I'm running the MDK2007 PowerPack bought directly from Mandriva...

By gone, I can search my whole linux install and it cannot find a single file, except for the desktop shortcut....

I cannot find it in the RPM packages from MMC, or anywhere else

Just run the terminal command and it gave me nothing...

Amarok just crashed before and locked my whole computer up.. and now it's gone too I'm starting to wonder WTF is going on now...

Seems 2007 is a little wobbly eh? Beginning to think I'll stick with 2006 for a while longer myself. Pity, I was looking forward to 2007 too.

Hmmm, that sounds very strange indeed! I've never heard before, that program packages simply disappear...

Well, maybe we get some more information, when you try to reinstall amarok and cedega. Both is possible with the install-dvd. Another way is via the official servers - for cedega you have to register on mandriva-club to get access to the clubserver with commercial applications (because you bought the PowerPack the first month should be free of charge if I remember correctly)

Just an idea: Maybe you use the wrong update server, so that after updating your rpmdatabase is corrupt?

Apparently the Cedega thingy is a 1 month subscription, but that still should not make it evaporate from your system, unless they have done an MS trick, somehow I can't believe that of a Linux crew, commercial or not. Just one more reason to be skeptical of the new 2007 release. It seems to be flaky as fish.

Well, altogether I am actually quite happy with it. If any probelms come out it´s mostly my own fault because I was editing some config files without really knowing what I was doing, or simply just to see what will happen

I reinstalled MDK2007 last night and Cedega and Amarok are back NFI why they vanished, but I couldn't find anything on where they went...

AFAIK, Cedega subscription only gives you the latest updates and game settings for the gaming engine and also gives you voting rights. There is nothing about needing a subscription to make the package work. I saw plenty of torrents for it too

Currently have to work out my firewall issues... Kopete messenger is working, but FireFox / Opera will not surf the net and I cannot do updates in MMC... I've had this problem before, and being a newbie to Linux, I fix things without knowing how I fix them and I cannot remember what I did last time this happened

I know it was something I changed in Shorewall and it worked... I like MDK2007, but being new to Linux is hard for me to judge about it's performance over other distro's, but I have found it marginally easier to use then the previous versions I tested 12-18months ago.

Mr Sloth, no guru myself, been fiddling with Linux for some time now and it still has me going in circles sometimes.

Some distro's just won't install, some lock up on boot, some appear to install smoothly then Kernel Panic on reboot. Never had things just wander of the hard drive though, that is a beauty.

Great, I have another twin. Just as well I have no mission critical stuff. Consider myself a hobbyist, Can't code, so won't hack. Old Steam ship engineer, just don't seem to be able to understand the abstractions in programming, so I rely on you clever young people a lot.

Well MDK2007 is fairly stable, it doesn't have failures on boot up or any kernal panics from what I have done to it. The occasional termination of a program occurs, but I'm use to that with WinXP

One command I do miss from Mandrake 9.1 was the good ole XKill function... Click on XKill, click on the target frozen window and BAM! KILLED!

This firewall thing is starting to give me the annoyances.... Kopete messenger will work fine online but Opera, FireFox and MCC Updates do not work..... I can ping google.com and get perfect responses, open Opera and get nothing....

After the default install did you change anything in the shorwall or did you installd some other firewall during the install?

I just installed the default firewall (Shorewall). Added my ethernet connections and Kopete started working, web browsing didn't

Do you have multiple internet connections? If not than it's very strange.... browsing should work with the default settings after the install if you have enabled the network management for normal users at the instalation....
Disable your firewall and take a look if your browsers are working or not... If the browsers don't work with firewall disabeld than you have misconfigured your internet connections
