Mandriva 2007: no documentation + can't use any update mirrors

Hi all!

I browsed distrowatch.com yesterday and found out that Mandriva 2007 was released with the new exciting AIGLX and Xgl 3D-accelerated desktop. So I downloaded mandriva-one-2007-kde6 CD-image, burned it to a CD-R and installed it today.

Well, the installation went flawlessly, there were no problems whatsoever and the 3D-desktop is also working fine.

I'm still pretty much new to Linux, so the only thing I'm missing is the documentation.
When I go to the "K-Menu" --> "Documentation" --> "Help" and then whatever I click there, it says "There is no documentation available for xxxxx". Also when I open the Control Center and click the Help button, I get the same error.

Is there a way to implement the documentation files somehow?

And an another somewhat serious problem I just discovered:
If I open the "Configure Your Computer" link from the K-Menu, and then when I try to add a mirror to download/update packets, it gives me this error:

Code:
unable to parse hdlist file of "update_source"
It's impossible to retrieve the list of new packages from the media
`update_source'. Either this update media is misconfigured, and in this case
you should use the Software Media Manager to remove it and re-add it in order
to reconfigure it, either it is currently unreachable and you should retry
later.
... this error message appears with all the mirrors I have tried (more than 10).

If you want updates, you will have to wait for at least a few days. This will give mirrors the chance to sync with the main Mandriva download servers. If you are looking for documentation, are you sure that the packages that provide the documentation are installed? I doubt that the live discs have a lot of documentation due to space restrictions.

Thanks for the reply, reddazz.

Heh, I had no idea the mirrors were not synced and I thought the problem was on my side.
And yes, I'm using the live disc I downloaded via bittorrent from mandriva's site.

I already found quite a lot of helpful links with Google, so they'll keep my busy for a while.

Thanks again.

Unable to update .......

I get that same message and I am using the x-86_64 of Mandriva. It's the 15th and the mirrors must have been updated by now. The plf Install Remove & Update it says "Impossible to run unknown 'install' program."

reddazz has mentioned its an synching of mirrors thing.

I have read the same at another forum so it must be true, please be patient.

However, nothing is stopping you using a web browser to browse ftp or http sites that have 2007 updates.

Quote:
I'm missing is the documentation
By default the doc is not installed :-(
run drakrpm and install the doc

for those who have not yet installed 2007, the option
of selecting individual packages during install allows
to select the doc

I'm having the same problem with the update mirrors. I have a X_64 system. Any real fix yet?

one point to be careful of with "easy urpmi" if you clear the entries as suggested it'll wipe the DVD/CD source and you'll have to install it manually. I had to do this for the Powerpack DVD in all four places (X-86_64, X-86_64 (Main 32), X-86_64 (Non free) & X-86_64 (Non free 32)
