Mandriva 2007 Intel ipw2200 wireless problem, and question on i915 and Xorg
Hey there,
Haven't been here in a while!
I just installed Mandriva 2007 from the free DVD download. Install went fine, everything's running except for my Intel 2200 wireless. The card is recognized, but the free edition of Mandriva ships without firmware. So just like in Mandriva 2006, I was asked to download the firmware and extract it to /lib/firmware/ . I have done that with every version of the firmware now, and everytime I try to configure the card from Control Center, it tells me (to paraphrase, because I'm not in front of my laptop right now) "Cannot find a network interface for the device (using ipw2200 firmware" . Was wondering if anybody had had the same problem and gotten it fixed.
Also, on a completely different topic, does anybody know if or when direct rendering for Intel 915 graphics is going to be fixed in Xorg 7.1? Indirect is fine for most of my daily needs, as I don't play any 3d or graphics intensive games, but I do like to play Supertux now and again, and it looks like utter trash without direct rendering enabled. It worked in 2006 with the CVS Xorg 6.9, but it's been broken since 7.1 (there are several bug reports open). Something in the Mesa driver got screwed up between the two versions.
Thanks
