Mandriva 2007 and LinDVD

I have to disagree that in later versions of Mandriva LinDVD works "out of the box." I'm running Mandriva Powerpack 2008 which is definitely a "later version" yet LinDVD will not work if your DVD drive is not mounted as cdrom. I also found after changing symlink that it would play video, but no sound. This only worked until the next reboot when it reset itself.

You should try 2008.1 Spring which resolves many hardware problems. I would say this to anyone with any problems of any kind really: try the latest version if you are having problems.

I am not saying it will fix LinDVD which I no longer even try to use (VLC-plf is my favourite), but if your problems are (or may be) hardware related try 2008.1.
