Mandriva 2005 penquin background
 

Ok this i hope is simple, when you boot up, and even in non gui mode, there is that penquin with the stars in its eyes background. how the heck to you get rid of that ugly thing? I dont want any background at all.

You need root privileges.
Edit /etc/lilo.conf file.
find every line "vga=@something@"
and change it to "vga=normal"
then run "lilo" to reinstall lilo on your disk.
If no errors, reboot.
