Mandriva 10.2 gtkpod installation help for Newbie

Newbie here,

Like many linux users, I would like my iPod to work on my linux machine (it'll get me one step closer to abolishing windows from my life).

I've come across gtkpod, and have downloaded gtkpod-0.94.0.tar.gz, but I'm afraid I don't know what to do next from the command line.

Could someone please help a new user out?

Thanks!

I use it all the time, gtkpod, don't install software that way unless it is not available as an rpm.

Simply open command line session and type "su" to become root, give root password as asked, then type " urpmi gtkpod" don't use the quotation marks, just the commands within. This will install gtkpod and its dependancies the easy "Mandriva" way. If it does not find gtkpod to install, simply means you have not set up your sources for software, if that is the case go here first: http://www.linuxfordummies.org/addmedia/

Edit: wow, did that first line sound bossy, was meant as a suggestion, not a demand -lol.
