MandrakeMove problem cd ejects for no reason

Hi, I am having some problems with getting mandrakemove (download edition) to work on my school computers, believe it or not their bios is not password protected and I can boot from CD so thats good. Mandrakemove is working great on my system but at school it loads all the stages and starts to bring up the X server and then the cd pops out for no reason. could it be that since it is a dell (thus likely having an lg drive) it has destroyed the cd rom drive or can anyone see a reason for it popping out and how the heck can I fix that from happening? I have not had very good luck with knoppix and such. Please report back asap, our system admin is interested in Linux and heck, if she likes it she might convert the hundreds of windows box's in the school (or at least a few). Thanks.

No, a CD ROM that dies is dead, no eject, nothing. Besides the Move CD would not send the offending FLUSH_CACHE command. The only thing I can think is that the network is somehow rejecting the installation of IP using DHCP or whatever? Fro grins, remove the ethernet cable, and try again. I did find cases where CUPS prevented the computer from ejecting the move CD, but nothing like that you have.

Me too..

Yeah, I installed Mandrake 10, and now my cd keeps opening for no reason.

It started only after installing Mandrake 10. Sometimes it pops open for no reason, sometimes it seems to pop open when you try to close it.

THe weird thing is that it is happening under windows now too. What the f*** did Mandrake do?

I would think that it is a hardware problem, but it is odd that we both are having the same problem after installing mandrake.
