Mandrake10.1 official download version doesn't have speedstep-centrino module?

Hi all,

I thought the mdk10.1 offical kernel had centrino support. Yet when I try "modprobe speedstep-centrino", it said FATAL ERROR module not found.

I also check the /proc folder, there is no cpufreq file, also the /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/info file is like this:
processor id: 0
acpi id: 1
bus mastering control: yes
power management: no
throttling control: no
limit interface: no

so, is the centrino support removed from the download version?

Is there any patch, or easy way to get the speedstep-centrino module except recompiling the kernel? thanks

Okay, Let me answer my own question. Hopefully this is helpful for people who have the same problem.

I looked into the kernel config file(2.6.8) of MDK10.1, suprisingly enough, none of the CPU frequency scaling stuff is selected! I simply changed the CPU type to Pentium M, then enable CPU freqency scaling support (almost selected everything except AMD stuff and P4 stuff). rebulid kernel.

now, I can do "modprobe speedstep-centrino". The CPU frequency can be checked or modified at /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/

of course, a CPU frequency controlling program helps a lot.
