Mandrake Upgrade Tool
I just moved from Fedora 2 to Mandrake, and I was wondering how to update the thing (not specifically update the kernel, just upgrade). I'm used to having many ways of upgrading to chose from: yum, up2date, apt, etc., but i can't find anything for mandrake!

Going from another release to Mandrake on the same system, while trying to preserve everything is a VERY BAD idea due to the differences.
You could boot from any LiveCD based distro and delete everything except your important data files and home directories. Leave the /etc/fstab intact, but delete everything else. e.g. /etc /var /lib /usr /bin /opt /dev Then install Mandrake, telling it to use existing partitions. This will preserve the data files. BTW: Mandrake uses rpm (ala RedHat) enhanced with urpmi. The latter is like apt-get in that it also gets and installs any related dependancies. |
Actually, i already wiped the hard drive and installed Mandrake, im talking about software updates, i just want something to update my computer with (like that mandrakeonline thing).

Then all you need is to follow these directions...
