mandrake loads slow.
I have an old laptop with a pII 366mghz and 96 mbs of ram. Is it the rams fault it is running slow or is it the rest of the computer?
I am going to boost up the ram 128mbs more. Will this help. |
is it the bootup that is slow or is the system in general running slow. If it is mainly the boot process, that's probably because it's starting too many things during boot. Go to drakxservices and disable services that you do not need. Harddarke one of the obvious things to disable. If you do not have pcmcia cards, you can disable that too. NFS as well if you don't use it. etc. You can always start these services later when you need them.

boot is slow but sytem runs at normal speed

in that case, try what I suggested above. It's mostly just starting too many things and harddrake itself takes forever - you really don't need it unless you are one of those people who change their hardware on a daily basis.
