Mandrake 9.2 -- no icons in KDE

This is not that "vanishing menu entries" problem that other people seem to be having. This is a whole other special problem just my own. :)

I'm running Mandrake 9.2 using KDE on a Celeron 450 with 256 MB, and I don't have much drive space (it's on a 3 GB drive with 700MB in /home). To install the nVidia drivers, I had to move some things to another drive -- I mostly moved icons, since they took up a lot of space. After the install was done, I moved them all back, but suddenly they're nowhere to be found.

I've checked the filelist I generated before I moved them and they are back where they were, and I've checked that they have the right permissions. I've also tried the menu-update -v thing (just in case) and updated Mandrake from the CDs. I also added the kdeartwork package, hoping that it might put stuff in the right place.

None of that worked, but here's my real question: When I went to Look and Feel and Icons, I get a kcmshell crash. It looks like this:
(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)... [repeated 24 times]
0x40f92656 in waitpid () from /lib/i686/libpthread.so.0
#0 0x40f92656 in waitpid () from /lib/i686/libpthread.so.0
#1 0x4067f33a in KCrash::defaultCrashHandler(int) ()
from /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.4

This happens every time. Do I need to reinstall kcmshell? How can I do that? Should I be asking this on some KDE forum (I tried one, but it's really low traffic).

Thanks in advance for anyone who can let me know how to fix the icon problem or kcmshell.
