mandrake 9.2 libpcap problem

I just installed mandrake 9.2 and Im having problems tring to install ethereal using the package manager. It askes me to install libpcap but will not allow me to install it??? I tried download from tcpdump site, got the .gzip file and installed it. but when I tried to load ethereal it didnt find libpcap. Anyone else with the same problem.....
