Hi Nilihanth,
I have tried to get my BCM v.92 modem working, too, without success yet.
There are severa methods I have tried, but somehow there is always a
config file absent, and I don't know how to find/create them.
Last night I tried linman's method for MDK 9.1 on my MDK 9.2. (2.4.22-10mdk)
I read that there aren't many changes between these two versions, mostly in
KDE. I think I almost got it right, until the last step.
You should go to the Linuxant website and run their scan modem utility to get
the chipset and other IDs for your modem.
http://www.linuxant.com
Then there are links there to find a driver using that info.
I also got alot of information by searching
www.google.com/linux . That part
of google searches particularly for Linux related links.
Here's a site I found that's helpful for BCM modems
http://www.modemsite.com/56K/bcm.asp
I think there are Dell drivers referenced there.
There is a HOWTO on winmodems at
http://en.tldp.org/winmodems-and-lin...o-1.html#ss1.3
(I hope I typed that right)
The final ref I have is at
www.modem-help.com.
I haven't been able to quite figure out where I'm going wrong after trying
the Linuxant install and linman's install. There seem to be many ways to
get modems working, if yours isn't recognized and installed when loading
Linux.
I don't know enough about Linux yet, to do a good job at debugging scripts
and fixing problems, but I can read output listings and get an idea of where
the problem might be.
I hope these links help you out.
Regards,
Al
