Then a 14gb Mandrake 9.1

The Mandrake kernal is messed up so it wont boot linux so i just go from lilo to XP

Now my question is. How do i format the HDD w/ linux on it from the XP. or if there is another way

FYI: I have no floppy drive.

Boot the windoze CD. You need like a rescue mode thing. You should get a prompt like DOS. Type in

Code:
fdisk /mbr
That will take lilo off the MBR. As for patitioning after that, you should be able to run fdisk from that same prompt. Make SURE you get the right drive though. Something like fdisk d: or something to that effect.

I'm not a windoze expert, see sig below, but since noone else would answer, mine may be better than nothing.

Hope that helps.

Depends what you want to do wth the linux partition. If you want to put another linux distro there, just install as usual, the partition will be formatted as part of the installation.

If you're planning to use it for windows, do as dalek suggested, except use "fixmbr" intead of "fdisk /mbr" (fixmbr is native to XP). That will wipe out the linux bootloader and should restore the XP loader

True. XP has a different command. Shows you how much I mess with XP huh?

As a matter of fact, I'm converting a local business to Linux. I'm doing as much of the install and compile on my rig and then just transfer the drive to theirs. Got a few bugs to work out but it is coming along.

Maybe the bump helped.
