Problem:
Need to make Linux boot floppy to access WinXP Pro share to repair install from an ISO there. What should I be writing to my floppy?
Configuration:
your standard household nat router
half-working Mandrake 9.1
Windows XP Pro
Windows 98SE available if it helps
Already tried:
Used WinRAR to extract some dos utilities from the iso (and put them in my path). used rawwritewin (
) to write Mandrake91-cd1-inst.i586.iso\images\network.img (extracted first naturally)tried booting the linux box with the disk and got a system disk error (meaning it found nothing to boot)......no, i don't really know what I'm doing here.
Description:
Actually what I really am trying to do is repair damage to my linux box from certain people who won't listen to me when I tell them not just to cut the power
After this happened a few times, a lot of the Mandrake programs just won't start and I'm seeing some [FAILED]s on boot. I figured that I'd give a repair installation a shot, but here's the problem: in attempting to spread the joy of Linux, I gave my 3 Mandrake cds to a friend (who moved across the country). And....naturally I'm out of CDs. While it's true I could just go to a store and pick some up fairly cheaply, I'd rather learn how to do this.....
Thanks everyone. Great forum.
