Question Mandrake 9.1 Initial Install Issue

I have been using Mandrake 9.1 and am pretty familiar with it so far. However, I have recently moved it over to my Toshiba Laptop, and it seems that it will not install all of the packages that I ahve selected during the initial setup.

I know there aer some hardware dependancies for some apps, but the packages that are not getting installed are the games packages, some but not all of the Office packages (I get KOffice, but not OpenOffice), and the extra GUIs (those other than KDE or GNOME).

At first, I thought it was my discs, but I tried it again by building a VM on my WinXP machine, and it installed everything that I selected, and even asked for the number 2 and three install CDs (the laptop only used the first disc).

I am to the point where I am going to build a fresh VM of Mandrake 9.1 and then try to Ghost it over to my laptop, just hope I don't run into too many driver issues. I don't want to have to do that, but it seems like it is my only option left.

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellie PIII 650Mhz/64Mb RAM/5.0 GB HD/DVD-ROM
I am using a full install and selecting to erase entire disc. Placing the boot sector on the first disc sector (MBR) and going form there.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

When you say "are not getting installed" - what exactly do you mean?
Can you go into the Software Installer and install the extra packages?

Not Getting Installed

Yes.

If I select the optins at the initial install, say, the games group, or the office group, it will not install any games, and the install size never increases. Also, it will only install the Koffice packages, and none of the OpenOffice packages.

However, if I go into the installer later and track down all the dependant packages, it will allow me to go through and install each of them just fine. The only probelm is, to do that, I have to manually browse to each of the 3 CDs and run the rpms from Konqueror because RPMdrake will not list any packages other than the ones on the first CD.

And I would like to reiterate that it works fine on any other computer, it is just this laptop that behaves that way.
