I'm running 9.1. I have a Linksys Etherfast card that mandrake recognizes, but won't go onto the internet with. The last time I installed mandrake (about 6 months ago) it recognized the card just fine and I didn't have to do anything. What's different this time? Could the card be knocked loose or something?
My card needed a re-config today .. same problem ... would not connect to the net so i just used the auto setting in the hardware setup screen. (btw ... i'm new to Mandrake so i don't know the navigation well yet)
I don't see anywhere to pass that option. I logged in as root, and the only options I get in the boot area are what user I want to autologin as or if I want to make a boot floppy.
I'm connecting via a LAN
No IP address is being assigned.
I don't know how to ping my hub. It's not a router, it's a hub. It has no firewall or anything like that.
I can't see any other machines.
I haven't upgraded my kernel because I can't get on the internet!
Do an update of your system. Boot from the CD, and press (I think it's) <F1> to boot "manually". Boot "linux noapic" and perform the update. After that in the boot cinfiguration of your control center you will have the option of forcing "noapic".
I have Linux Mandrake 9.1 running on an IBM Thinkpad 560Z. I need to install my Linksys Etherfast 10/100 PCMCIA Notebook Adapter. I get no signal lights and it doesn't show up in HardDrake.
I have a Microsoft MN-520 Wireless PCMCIA Notebook Adapter that isn't recognized either.
Please help! I can't get on the internet with this machine.
