Ok I installed Mandrake 10 3 times just to make sure this wasn't a fluke deal. Everything goes good, but during installation I get some kind of error about tuxracer not installing. No big deal to me. So I choose to continue installation. Everything else goes good. No more errors, and I choose not to install updates (actually I tried it both ways and it made no difference). Then I reboot the system. When it gets to the login point, there is no graphical login, so I logged in under my user name and typed startx. Nothing happens. I tries to load it then comes back to the prompt screen with a screen full of messages that made no sense to me and that's it. I don't even remember what all the messages are there are so many of them. Anybody got any ideas what's going on here?

I've had similar problems when the cds were dirty. I just cleaned them and tried again.

i tried that once already. i suppose though. what's one more time gonna hurt.

maybe you have problems with your xserver, that sounds to me as if x is comlaining and it's probably telling you that it found screens but none that are useable (lol - dont u just love linux) and that you should check you xfree86.0.log. you can get this in /var/log.
