Community was the early release before much testing and stability was put into it. Community was pretty shitty I thought, but the official release is awesome.

Thanks for the reply.
I've used Community before but it didn't like my Radeon 9200.
I saw then official and wondered what the difference was.
Gonna give it a try tomorrow.

Don't set your expectations too high. The official release is full of bugs too.

MDK always will have bugs, as it is a work in progress, just as the other buggy ones.
I have tried them.

Hi

I'd like to know whether there's a difference between CE and the downloadable ISO's entitled "Mandrakelinux10.0-Official-Download-CD1.i586.iso" et al? Where do these fit into the version set for 10.0?

Apologies for reviving an older thread!

Thanks

I'm usng official on my main production box and haven't had too many problems, tho MDK does tend to push closer to the edge than many, which I like... You can fix it easily enough

The download edition is part of the official version and much much better than the community edition

I was initially under the impression that mandrake is going on redhat's way, having two product lines. Something like, redhat:fedora:enterprise server :: mandrake:communityfficial

But what I gather from above is that the community release was actually a 10.0 beta, which the mandrake guys worded nicely so that a lot of people download and use it. Perhaps calling it beta would have reduced the number of testers as a lot of people, which includes me, wait for full releases.
