I'm trying to install MDK10 Official from the ISO's, and I've had a horrible time. First I tried burning the ISO's, which worked fine. (Not just the plain image of course.) Then it boots up, but it tells me what kind of emulation it was set on. Like 1.44MB floppy, or HD, or whatever. Then it just stops. I've tried it 1000 times and wasted a lot of CD's!

Then I tried doing a network install, with boot.iso on a CD. I get the same problem.

THEN I tried loading network.img and network_drivers.img to floppy, to do a network install. Well network.img works great, but then I can't get network_drivers.img to FIT ON A FLOPPY!!! It's always too big. On a windows and a linux machine both. Any ideas why that is??? Network.img boots up just fine though.

Am I burning the CD's wrong? Using Nero 6 (whatever the newest free trial is) and burning the ISO as a "boot" ISO. Or how come the network_drivers.img won't fit on a floppy like it's supposed to?

which cd are you trying to boot from? with mdk10.0, you must boot from cd2, then it will ask you to insert cd1 to start the install. why they changed it to that way, i dunno? Nero should burn the iso's just fine, provided you set it to burn them properly. it's been a while since i've used nero, but i think it goes something like this.........

start Nero
choose the menu command "file"->"burn image"
an "open" file dialog box appears with the following image types supported (*.nrg, *.iso, *.cue)
choose your ISO file and click open
the "write CD" dialog box appears with several tabs
click the 'burn' tab
confirm that 'write' and 'finalize' are selected
click on "write"
it will do it's thing

Also with Nero one must make image burning available for all devices.

Start Nero then, I believe you have like 6 menu icons, choose configure nero or something like that.
A window$ like tabbed menu box appears. Hit the advanced tab. At the bottom you will see a choice for image burning. Choose <make image burning available for all devices>. Now you can use wichever burning devices and the ISO image will be available and burned properly. Also make sure to follow above suggestion about choosing the "file type" to burn. You also may want to try to burn the first cd on a cd-rw until you know you have it figured out. Further, cdrom1 from the official downloads did boot for me. After I figured out that Nero thing

Do you currently have Linux set up on any machines? If so XCD_roast is a very good burning program as is K3b.

As for the network floppy I believe that their size is 188mb so you have to use a 200mb disk.
