Mandrake 10.1 Powerpack worth the money?

I am running the downloadable version of mandrake 10.1 Official. Would it be worth the money to buy the powerpack instead. I can see that the powerpack contains official drivers for certain hardware, but isnt this the same available from the hardware manufacturers website? What is the actual difference?

Well downloading the drivers from the manufacturer requires you to install it manually whereas in PP, it does it for you.

I have 10.1 Powerpack and i feel it's worth it
It includes the Contrib server files on the DVD (aac dvd and various multimedia support)

it includes the NVidia, ATI, Acrobat reader Macromedia flash and java on the disc in nice RPM's which are installed during install.

but other then that your funding further Linux development

If you have MDK 10.1 Official Download, and have broadband internet access, you *might* be just as well served by setting up your urpmi mirrors (http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/), to include contrib and PLF mirrors. Then you can freely get all the non-commercial software as in on the PowerPack discs. True, you have to install things, which *can* be a problem sometimes, e.g. video-card drivers.

If you go this route, you can still support Mandrakesoft by joining the Mandrake Club.

I run both on two different boxes, I feel the Powerpack is an extra precaution cause I don't want to bother with crappy CDs
and just use the ones provided in the pack, they are good quality products. Also, there are commercial apllics in there.
Also I like to contribute, I buy every other two new releases , e.g. bought the 9.2, not the 10.0 and
bought the 10.1 PP. I think it's a good release.
Cheers
