I have to ask the obvious questions:
I assume the PC's BIOS is configured to boot from CDROM drive first. Were the CDs burned correctly? i.e. the CDs have something other then a single iso file. Did you verify the downloaded iso file matched the md5sum? I've read posts where people have had trouble booting from the 1st install CD. Have you checked any errata on MDK's website? The posts mentioned something about booting from the 2nd CD. Have you searched this website yet? |
....that's right, you need to boot from cd2, and when prompted put cd1 back in

Bios i even set so the only option was to boot from a cd but just came up with an error on disc 1 and disc 2 cant remember what it said though.

and the only thing thats on the discs is the iso file, ive done the same as i always do when burning iso files so i dont have a clue why it wont run.

It nevers prompts you for CD1 it asks you if you are going to install from CD and then prompts you for the drive if you more than one CD when you select and it comes back and says it can't find what its looking for, --- that's when you sort of get the clue to put in CD1.
I also found that if you elect to upgrade and use existing partitions it can't seem to find the root mount and keeps saying their is no root partition. I backed up everything and I needed and just let it reallocate (wiping the existing partitions). Incidentally, if you stick CD1 in a windows CD the autorun comes up with a nice install menu and seems to work fine. Jim |
