Mandrake 10.0 Install Issues with TI-IEEE 1394 hardware

Hello,

Recently I've been trying to install Linux Mandrake 9.2 and now I tried with 10.0. Both apparently have the same problem which makes the complete install application crashes.

What happen is:
1. Linux launches the graphical installation interface
2. Detects my network perfectly
3. Detects my Texas Instrument - IEEE 1394 Firewire port and crashes.

The computer is completly frozen, no possibility of rebooting (except going with an hard reboot), no possiblity of going into the shells, absolutly nothing works.

Personally, I don't need that port. Is it possible to deactivate or skip the detection of firewire material during the installation ?

If needed my computer hardware is:

Compaq Presario Serie 2500 (Notebook)
CPU: Pentium 4 - 2.40 ghz
RAM: 512 DDR

There is a 'reserve' option that you can use to prevent probing of the device. You may want to study the lilo howto for more information. You'll also need to get information on the device to use this option. You could boot up with the install disk and enter 'rescue' to be able to gather this information.
When you are successful with the installation, run the 'mkrescue --iso' command to produce a rescue disk. This disk contains a couple menu options to analyze your system and suggest startup options to use.

Thank you.

I will try to install back with those options and will try to install as you told me. I'll do that in the morning probably.

Thanks again !
