Hi all,

I've tried installing Mandrake 10.0 Download edition on my 650MHz Duron and all goes well until i get to "preparing bootloader" where it just freezes. I've successfully installed 9.0, 9.1 and 9.2 on this system before so i really don't know what's going wrong.

Any ideas?

It did the same to me. I just went back and reinstalled and everything went fine. It installed the bootloader first, so it skipped it the second time around. That could be part of the problem.

First thing I did was delete all the partitions on the HD.

Then I installed XP.

Then after 5 tryes and Failing cause FILO wouldn't install.

I used Grub. And Linux installed.

Then as I tested my video card settings and pushed cancel or something screen went blank and so I rebooted.

Linux was running but it looked like I didn't finnish the install.

So then I got CD 1 back in and Started over deleting everything but XP.

For now on I freeze at "Prepairing Bootloader"

and caps lock doesn't work and no other locks work. If i reboot the bootloaders are never installed. So dang.

I don't know much about the installer. I kinda wish it was like windows 2000 install heh. I never had problems installin win2k heh.

So far this is the only form with the same problem as me that i've found.

As of now I got windows xp to boot again. But I can no longer get mandrake past that freeze.

For the love of everything! I wanna start using linux as a primary OS. Someone out there I hope has answers. SAVE the Linux Noobie!
