Please excuse this if it sounds very newbish... I am attempting to dual-boot my computer, which currently has WinXP Pro on it. I have resized the WinXP NTFS partition, created a new ext3 partition, and so after reading tons of documentation decided it was time to try to install Mandrake 10.0 Community Edition.
I put the CD in, reboot. Graphics screen comes up. The first couple times, I just hit Enter, to Install. It ends up going through some list of initialization routines (it appears to be finding my hardware or something) and then Gives me a screen that says "Mandrake Linux 10.0 Community Edition" at the top, followed by a build time. At the bottom of the screen are three useless Alt+F# commands, which don't work for me. Here is where it hangs. It won't do anything after this point. Some of the times I have done it, a tiny blue window-type object appears on the screen very
briefly, but I can't read what it says.
I have tried someone's suggestion in another thread to run the installer without APIC support (using
linux noapic nolapic
), but that did essentially the same thing.
I'd really like to get this to work, but I have nowhere to figure out what might be going wrong.
