Madwifi Problems
I would like to make a switch to Linux completely! Only reason I was running windows at all was for World of Warcraft at this point. Always loved linux over windows. But I am having problems making the transistion.
I get Mandriva 2007 Free to install flawlessly but can't get the Madwifi drivers for my Wifi PCI card to take. My card, the DLINK DWL-510 is on Mandriva 2007 certified list. I am assuming this means Discovery and up, becouse when I try to install the NIC it tells me I need the Madwifi drivers. Is Mandriva 2007 Free capable of running this NIC?
Also, my whole point is to use the Transgaming.com program to run WoW and CivIV. Is the Free capable of doing this anyways?
If Yes for both of my questions, can someone help me STEP BY STEP to getting this up? Every post I have seen on the subject says something about urpmi Kernal-source gcc, but no matter what I do, I just get an error messeage. Can someone help me error by error?
My system:
Intel P4 w/ ASROCK Mobo(II865-11?)
1GB DDR Mem
ATI X800 Video
CD/RW and DVD-Rom
DWL-G510 Wireless-G PCI Adaptor into a Netgear WGR614
Would like to start with a How-To of how to mount my NTFS C:\ Drive which is Dual Booted so I have Internet Access until I figure this stuff out.
Tom
P.S. After this, I would like to know how to use my wifi connected Printer (HP 6980)
