login screen ..question


i just installed mandriva limited edition and when it boots up it askes for my login name and password but i cant get out of the black dos screen ,should i have used a different desktop at the install...thanks

Normally when you install Mandriva, if you do not put an "x" in the auto logon feature to send you straight to a gui (http://www.linuxloader.com/modules.p...&pid=18&page=8) it will dump you into the command line and you must use the command "startx" after loging in as a user.
