i am running mandrake 10.0 offical powerpack the other day i reset the securities on the box from paranoid to high then when i goto log into the box i get 2 login names lets say log1 and log2 now i have tryed every session type but cant log into the box i have the correct password it just wont load, it keeps going back to the password screen has anyone had this happen and if so how did you fit it thanks

now i do have Command Shell through webmin if that helps

Have you tried to login in secure or single-user mode? Try to login in runlevel 1, which will make you root without entering any password, then change root's password and see if you can login normally from that point.

i cant log in as root it does not give me that option all i have to select from is 2 users one the password does not work and the other takes the password but just brings me back to the password page. the others i am not sure how to try that. any help on that i wouls love to have thanks

press ctrl+alt+f1 - can you login to the console that comes up? Can you login as root? If so just reset the passwords of those accounts and try logging in through the GUI (press alt+f7 to get back to it) again.

ok i can log in as root and as one of the users when useing ctrl/alt/f1 so i log in as root and then hit ctrl/aly/f7 and tryed to log in as the user that i can log in in comand line and no go. once in the console how do i rese the password under root thanks
