Location of kernel source files in 2.6.17-5mdv #1 SMP


I've recently installed Mandriva free 2007, 2.6.17-5mdv #1 SMP and am keen to install owfs. It's installed every owfs component (owhttpd etc) EXCEPT owfs because it can't find fuse.
I'm having problems installing fuse because it fails with:

=== configuring in kernel (/home/chris/Download/fuse/fuse-2.6.0/kernel)
configure: running /bin/sh ./configure --prefix=/usr/local --cache-file=/dev/null --srcdir=.
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking if FUSE is loaded as a module... no
checking if FUSE module is built into the kernel... no
checking if FUSE module is from official kernel... no
checking kernel source directory... Not found
configure: error:
*** Please specify the location of the kernel source with
*** the '--with-kernel=SRCDIR' option
configure: error: ./configure failed for kernel


Now in previous versions of Mandriva the rpm's for the kernek source have been installable for the Control Centre/er but I can't find the modern equivalent and ain't sure where the sources are located and indeed if they are actually installed.

There is a kernel version that seems to include fuse but installing that makes no difference. Any thoughts on where I'm going wrong on this one.

Mine is here /usr/src/kernel-multimedia-2.6.17.13-3mdv/kernel

Nothing there ...

/usr/src contains fuse-2.5.3-3mdk/ rpm/ and as far I can see there soen't seem to be anything in rpm

Did you install the source files yourself and if you did what method did you use?

I don't really want to start picking up the kernel source from elsewhere and would prefer to use the approved Mandriva techniques if at all possible.

Followed the advice in 'Installing .rpm and .tar.gz' and have now installed the kernel sources without problems.
