When I was installing limewire through urpmi i said missing key then said continue installation y/n. Where can i get the key??? Will it work without the key??

Please don't open new threads for more or less the same question. Try to post all your questions in one thread. I have already answered this question in one of your threads. If you get some missing key errors, just select yes to continue the installation.

But I did put yes and now I cant find limewire

Then it must be installed...

Answering "Y" does not necessarily mean that it installed.

It merely means that you accepted the response.

E.g. OK to continue, does not equate to sucessfully installed.

It would be advantageous to post actual errors.

I'm sure it's installed. Try to look in your Mandrake menu it maybe there somewhere (I'm not sure where limewire is put in the menu) or entering "limewire" in a console. If you can't find it or it doesnt run from the console the last resort would be to (as root), do

rpm -qa | grep -i limewire

if it's installed a the packagename (limewire) and a version number will show up.

If Limewire rpm is installed there will be no menu entry. There is a separate rpm to establish a menu entry. One for Mandrake and one for Redhat, in jpackages source. If you can't get LimeWire to run from the installed rpm, uninstall it first and try the following.

Limewire is one of the few programs that is easier without using an rpm. Simply go to their website:

and you will see link to download Limewire in first paragraph.
Installation
1-download installer to your home directory
2- Open Konsole and you will be in your home directory where you just downloaded LimeWire to. At the prompt type: sh ./LimeWireLinux.bin

To Run it
1-open Konsole as regular user, and copy & paste what is between quotation marks "cd LimeWire" then hit enter key.
2- copy & paste what is between the quotation marks "java -jar LimeWire.jar" then hit enter key.
3- start downloading linux ebooks and stuff

He posted nothing about it requiring other packages or sucessfully installing, which unfortunately is a common thread on all of his posts... lack of details.

It works for me...

I was actually referring to this. Since he cant find it, I thought it was installed already.

I tried getting it running just to see what he would run into.

It's only a minor bear, but it does bite...

The downloaded "core" has to be unpacked from the .gz file.

It then must be moved to another seperate directory and made executable.

He probably doesn't know how to do this

e.g.

chmod 755 NAMEOFEXECUTABLE

Which will cause problems.

Everytime I post now there is an arguement. There was no error and when I did that thig in console rpm -qa | grep -i limewire i got limewire-3.5.6-1jpp so it must be installed. I did it through urpmi. So should I rty going through the web sight or do I try to get me kmldonkey working. Neither of them will work check out my thing on mlkdonkey.

also I tried what lakota said and then is said no such file or directory. Even though it was there and i was not in root!

Linux won't lie to you by saying a file isnt there if it really is. Whatever you were doing, there's a logic error to it. Double check what you did and you'll probably find your error.

lmao-- Linux users tend to be very passionate about their pc's and distro's, a few have aggresive personalities that show in their
posts. Also, often many ways to get the same end result.

As to how I install LimeWire, the instructions I gave you were asuming your browser downloaded the LimeWire.bin into your "home directory". "no such file or directory", does not mean the file is not on your hard drive, simply it is not in your Home directory. Your home directory not being "/home" but "/home/(yourusername)". Simply need to look at your browser preferences as to where you are downloading your files, and move the file to "/home/(yourusername)", if you want to follow my instructions.

It is i /home/administrator which is my home directory.
