I've just installed mandrake and I getting everything to work....but the CD doesn work.
I'm trying to play a CD with KsCD...he can see the CD because he pops the playlist bak to me, I can press on play and it looks like it's working but I hear no sound. I know that sound does work because I hear it during boot up...
I'm assuming there is a setting I must dis or enable in order to get my sound output...
KsCD only uses analog extraction, you must have a cable between you CD-ROM unit and your sound card.
If you have not this cable and don't want/can to put one, use any other CD player that supports digital extraction.
have a look at kmix and on the "input" tab make sure CD is enabled (green light at the top I think) and isn't muted (no red light at the bottom I think).
On the output tab make sure the speakers etc are enabled and not muted.
If that's not the problem, if you have more than one optical drive, make sure you're using the CD in the one that has the sound connected to the motherboard (that caught me out before )
I've got the exact same problem with Mandrake 10.1, KMix is okay everything is
set up to work but not KsCD. Never been able to make the darn thing play any CD...
Alsa is running, I can hear sound using Totem .
I'd be happy to get that solved, just to ease my mind...
