how can i swich to root (for installing programs) in the konsole without logging off form the user???

is it possible???

Open another konsole and su to root there.

and for create a folder under:

usr/local ??? it says:

access denied to /usr/local/***

what should i do in that case???

# mkdir -p /usr/local/foldername

Make directory parents. Make any missing parent directories for each directory argument.

Read man mkdir.

You have two prompts in the bash shell - $ is user, # is root (super user).

thanks a lot... but ahve a new question...

i cannot install the falsh plug-in into mozilla ^^ i followe dall the instructions but still doesn't work, does anyone else has this problem???

what should i do???

Use the search button and type in Flash. This has been discussed on LQ. I personally don't like all that movement in my browser so I don't install flash.
