Which codec package you install?
Does the video play anything?

The win32 codec pack from PLF non-free should work okay

win32-codecs-1.8-1plf2007.0

This package contains Win32 codec binaries, required for the decompression of video formats that have no open source alternative. This is in PLF for it's non-free license.

-Try a new plf nonfree source.

Hmm, package above was from plf sources I used four days ago when I installed. Went to use them today and they were down. Tried four other sources for plf and all down at this moment, not too impressive.

well i am having trouble with the plf nonfree source too

Code:
retrieving source hdlist (or synthesis) of "plf-nonfree"...
    ftp://ftp.planetmirror.com/pub/plf/mandriva/non-free/2007.0/i586/hdlist.cz

...retrieving failed: curl: (22) The requested URL returned error: 404
retrieval of source hdlist (or synthesis) failed
no hdlist file found for medium "plf-nonfree"
examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.plf-nonfree.cz]
problem reading synthesis file of medium "plf-nonfree"
found 0 headers in cache
removing 0 obsolete headers in cache
wrote config file [/etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg]
unable to update medium "plf-nonfree"
www.easyurpmi.zarb.org doesnt list plf repositories(or maybe its just that i cant understand it) so i searched for repositories on http://www.linuxfornewbies.org/addmedia/
but the repositories listed there were giving the above mentioned problem .

well i searched google for the package u named and as of now am downloading it from ftp://mandrake.contactel.cz/plf/mand...007.0.i586.rpm

You could save it to desktop and install it from there until the plf mirrors are working again. http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat....i586.rpm.html

Ah, tried that too eh. Could always use windows to view windowsmedia.

I had a similar issue in SuSE 10.1 untill I tried installing the w32codecs and THEN installing kmplayer. When I installed the player afterword it worked out. Try that.
