Keyboard layout wrong at Mandrake 9.1

My keyboard is a regular US-international one, and I live in Brazil. So, I have to use the layout "US-International" or "US with deadkeys" or something like that. The keyboard works perfectly with every operational system I had tested, except with Mandrake 9.1: here, the c-cedilla (ç) became an "c with acute", which is unuseful and extremely annoying to me, because Portuguese uses a lot of c-cedillas... The other accents work fine, like ã, à, â, á; just the cedilla doesn't work.

Please help me: how to make my keyboard work correctly? How to change, step by step, the map of the keys? (Since I'm a newbie and kbdconfig doesn't change anything, as there's something wrong for sure with the pattern/model/map it adopts...).

when you go to kde control center -> accessibility -> keyboard layout, you can choose the layout. I notice that both the brazilian and portuguese have several variants (under the list of the countries); maybe it helps to try out several variants.

cheers
