KERNEL PANIC on a MANDRAKE 8 SERVER

After an hardware problem: 2 of 3 HD in RAID 5 has broken i am receiving this:

...
Creating root device
Mounting root fylesystem
ext3: No journal on fylesystem on sd(8,1)
mount: error 22 mounting ext3 flags Freeing unused kernel memory: 136K freedi
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.

Any ideas?

Hi.

Firstly, the boot system of the kernel can't find the journal for the ext3 filesystem.
So the boot partition or directory can't be found.
Then you get a kernel panic, because the kernel can't handover from boot-cycle to the root filesystem.

Have you had any success with you problem?

If you need to recover the data and boot info, you might find testdisk useful.
