Kernel panic (Dual boot on nvidia nforce4 raid0 set)

Hello everybody!
I am newb to Linux and I don't have the chance to learn
I've tried to install few distros but no luck
Mandriva 2006 detected my raid set and I was very happy seeing the install runing. After reboot my happyness was gone.
I received the following error and how hard i've tried to find the answer for it I had no luck:

ContraPolice: detected heap buffer overflow while checking address

0x2aaaaaaad228.
ERROR: /bin/dmraid exited abnormally with value 0 ! (pid 868)
Mounting root filesystem /dev/mapper/nvidia_fbdhecbe7
mount: error 2 mounting ext2 flags defaults
well, retrying without the option flags
mount: error 2 mounting ext2
well, retrying without any flag
mount: error 2 mounting ext2
pivotroot: pivot_root(/sysroot,/sysroot/initrd) failed: 2
umount /initrd/sys failed: 2
umount /initrd/proc failed: 2
Initrd finished
Freeing unused kernel memory:224k freed
Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to

kernel.

Please someone help me to have a Linux installed without destroying the raid set.
I wish to learn but I don't wish to start with install problems.

Thank you!

LE: I forgot:
Motherboard Asus A8N-E /nForce 4 Ultra
ddr 2 X 512MB Kingston Value Ram
hdd 2X160GB WD JD Sata / Raid 0
VGA 6600 Gigabyte (not interesting I believe)

OS: Mandriva Linux 2006 Powerpack (0)

I posted the same thing (well, not so rich in detail as you did), but got no answer... browsing on different forums I got the idea that there is no automatic installation script yet for linux to be installed DIRECTLY on a raid system..

(at least with the so called fakeraids like the controllers on our boards..) getting a serious piece of equip like a 3ware controller would change things .. i am thinking about doing it :-)

I tried also installing on a single drive to see if the problem was with the raid.. the mandriva installer creates no /dev/mapper/nv_xxxxx device, which is apparently needed to handle the raid set...

my IT knowledge unfortunately does not go deep enough to solve the problem :-(
