Kernel-devel, kernel-headers

I have the four cd set of 2007 Mandriva, and I want to install VmWare-server.rpm, but I need
the kernel-devel, kernel-headers, what is the correct names for these two packages, I couldn't find them on the CD's

Mandriva does not have such packages. For anything that requires the kernel source install the kernel-source package.

Where is kernel-source package to be found ?
I open 'Software Management' and did a 'search' kernel-source it comes back with kernel-2.6.17.5mdv

Maybe you are using media that did not include the kernel source. If you go to easyurpmi, you can add more software repositories and install the kernel source. The repos you need are main, contrib, plf and updates. After the repos are setup, you can just do

As an addendum to reddazz's post, with Mandriva 2007.0, the software media sources you should set up are:

main, main_updates, contrib, contrib_updates, plf_free, and plf_non-free

.

If you are one who must have the very latest, the following may be appealing:

Quote:

main_backports, contrib_backports, plf_free_backports, and plf_non-free_backports

Note that the software in the backports media sources does not receive the extensive testing applied to the other sources, so the software may not be as stable. Use these media sources at your own risk.
