KDE Desktop

Hi There - wonder if anyone could point me please
in the right direction on this one.

I have just returned back to Linux after couple of
years with windoze and have downloaded the Spring 2009
edition of Mandriva.

On this distro is comes with the Dolphin desktop which
I don't really care for. Would like to go back to the
older Mandriva desktop, but have forgotten what name
it goes by for me to install.

Can anyone help in letting me know what files I have
to download please.

Hope this make sense.

Thanks for looking

If you are talking about not caring for the Dolphin file manager, you may want to go back to using the Konqueror file manager. The command you want to set up in your menu system is
Code:
konqueror -profile "File Management"
This command will open Konqueror as a file manager (File Management profile).

You should be able to run konqueror from a terminal window (konsole) using the command above. I am using Mandriva Linux 2010.1 (Spring) here, so my list of installed packages may not exactly match those from Mandriva Linux 2009.1 (Spring), but you should be able to enter "konqueror" (no quotes) in the Find dialog at the top of the Mandriva Software Package Manager window, then press the enter key to get a list of packages with the text string "konqueror" in their name. In the current release (2010.1), the main package is simply named konqueror.

If I mis-understand your question, I apologize for wasting your time with this reply.

HTH,

konqueror was the file browser used before dolphin .
it doesn't take long too get used to dolphin.
I have in stalled konqueror to use as an alternative web browser and drop and drag for ftp.
but use dolphin for local file browsing
