Kaudiocreator/lame encoder problem

I started using kaudiocreator today to rip cd tracks to mp3, but for some reason that baffles me the lame encoder--while present as a selection--seems to be missing. When I try to rip a track I get the following error:

The selected encoder was not found.
The wav file has been removed. Command was: lame --preset standard --tt 'Up!' --ta 'Twain, Shania' --tl 'Up! - Red Disc (CD 1/2)' --ty '2002' --tn '01' --tg 'Country' '/tmp/kde-iggep/kaudiocreatorK6Uqja.wav' '/home/iggep/Music/mp3/Twain, Shania/Up! - Red Disc (CD 1/2)/Twain, Shania - Up!.mp3'

Anyone else familiar with the error? I'm running Mandriva LE 2005.

In any event, for anyone else that runs into this problem, simply head to rpmfind and download lame, then install the RPM. Works like a champ after that. Doesn't fix the initial display error though.

IGGep,
I know this isn't the answer you are looking for but I found ripperx and it rips cds fine for me. I didn't have to fool with lame at all. Ripperx comes with mandriva 2005 but I don't think it's installed by default.

I haven't tried to use kaudiocreator so I can't help you much there........ But if you just want an easy program to convert cd to mp3 ripperx works fine.

Hope this helps some

Thanks for the reply, but I got kaudiocreator to work. Once I figured out that lame wasn't installed, I simply had to download it and install it. What I was asking was why lame was listed as an available encoder when it wasn't even installed. That seemed to be a bug that I was both trying to find why it was happening, and to warn people about it at the same time. Thanks though.

I am having the same problem but cannot find a place to get the lame encoder from. All the ones I got are for windows. Can you please let me know where you got it.

Thanks

http://easyurpmi.zarb.org follow the instructions to get the main, contrib and plf sources.

menu->software->Configuration->Packaging->Install Software and install the package 'lame' (no quotes).
