k3b working with high security?

After installing Mandriva LE over 10.1 and applying security level high in the process, K3b cannot burn CD's unless started as root.

Error compains about: "mkisofs Cannot allokate memory"

Any clues to what securities to change to make this work for a user?

Security levels can be changed in MCC. If you aren't running any servers open to the outside world, then you can probably get away with a security level setting of "standard".

There are ways to work around the higher security level and geting your burner to work, but I can't remember all the details now. Maybe adding the user to the cdrom group? Or maybe it has to do with giving write permissions to others on the /dev device that is your cd burner? I haven't played around with Mandriva 10.2 so can't nail down any specifics.

Go into the KDE Control Centre (System->Configuration->Configure Your Desktop) and go into System->K3B Setup 2. You should be able to give the users on your computer permission to burn CDs using this.
