K3b problem

I'm using Mandrake 10.0 Official and i just bought NEC 3500 DVD-Recorder.
But when i am trying to burn a dvd (iso or on the fly ) i get this :

/dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/cd: engaging DVD-R DAO upon user request...
:-( Failed to change write speed: 8310->16620

Does anybody can help with this?

I have the same problem and found this:

It looks like it has something to do with kernels > 2.8.7

I will recompile my kernel later to try it out.

The problem is i am using kernel 2.6.3 (Mandrake 10.0 default).

I managed to burn a dvd at 1x speed as root only .
As user i am stell trying...
