Just when I thought I had solved my browser problems

Hey mandrakeetes,

Just when I thought I had solved my browser issue problem with my older 2nd computer, it has once again reappeared again.

The browser opens but it stalls when trying to open-up any web-page.

I have a triple boot system and it always seems to do it, when my windows 98 browser hangs and I unclear it. When I boot into Mandrake, the Konqueror browser stalls when I try to open up a web-page.

I have ruled out the connection now because I have replaced my modem and I am able to dial-up with my newer pc with mandrake and get on the web with that PC.

Is this weird or what?

That little bar on the bottom will go to 25% loaded and it sits there and it stalls forever,, If I recyle, I get a port 80 error message DNS error?

What the hell is going on?

Does anyone have a clue, do I trash the PC?

Maybe that one guy was right about wasting time re-loading and re-booting.

I am about to give up too!

Go download another browser like Firebird.

www.mozilla.org

All you do is extract it into a directory and run the file MozillaFirebird.

Try that and see if it works.

Here's what might be happening

Something is going on with my windows98 crossing linking with my Mandrake 9.2 connection setting with the internet.

I know it doesn't sound right, but I know it is.

I am back on the web with Mandrake 9.2, on the same PC I was having problems with.

I booted-up onto Windows 98 and removed the modem settings and reinstalled my ISP Installation settings, inside Windows 98. Once I did this, I booted back onto Mandrake 9.2 and dialed onto the net and I was able to get right onto the internet with Konqueror with no problems. My Mandrake 9.2 is so much faster when surfing on the internet, than either Windows 98 or my Windows XP. I don't know what that seems to be the case.

So there is definitely a cross linking problem going on where Windows 98 and Mandrake are cross-linking and getting confused when communicating with my browser settings, when dial-up onto the internet. How or why this is going on, I don't know.

It never does it when I boot-into Windows XP, then boot-into Mandrake 9.2, it just does it on occasion, when I boot into Windows 98, then into Mandrake 9.2, because my windows 98 browser will hang-up/stall just like my Mandrake Konqueror browser, and that's when I start to say and feel, oh, oh....

Now, that being said, this problem has not occured on my newer PC running the same Operating systems, with same set-up, as in triple boot, windows98-windowsXP-mandrake9.2.
