Just a warning to all those RAID users out there. There are issues with a few of the kernel versions from 2.6.8 to 2.6.9 when using RAID.
I have spent a few long days on this one and would like to save some other poor souls from going through the same. Here is a note on the issue.

Mandrake 10.1 uses the 2.6.8-1 kernel. I had tried both 32bit and 64bit versions with all types of RAID and still had issues. With the 32 bit kernel the system would hang after 15 - 20 minutes. With the 64 bit kernel, the system would reboot on install. The issue is not with Mandrake, it is a kernel version issue!
I installed Mandrake 10.2 beta x86_64 and have had no problems. Mandrake 10.2 beta uses the 2.6.11-2 kernel.
The RAID card that I was using was a 3ware 9500S-4LP. The tech support at 3ware was awesome; they worked with me on the issue until they found the problem for me.
