ip address keeps changing
I have a problem with one server machine changing it's
local ip address even though the machine has not been switched off. This happens if I make a change either with adding a notebook with wireless onto the network or switch on/off the network printer. I am runnung apache on mdk9.2 The main machine I want to hold the address is serving via an adsl router which locks the local address to the wan address. Since, the machine changes it's local address the site becomes lost. eg. I start with ifconfig saying the eth0 is set at x.x.x.03 and later I find the command gives x.x.x.4 How do I tell the machine under mdk to hold it's address, or tell the dhcp to keep the main machine with a defined address?. It would also help if anyone knows how to tell a HP4500N printer to keep one address only as well. Thanks for your help.:Pengy: :Pengy: :Pengy: :Pengy: :Pengy: :Pengy: :Pengy: Don't you just love Pengy:Pengy: |
you should never use DHCP for a server, anyway !

In the dhcpd server you can specify the client's hardware address this will lock it's ip address
