installing mandrake....

I have a laptop here, that i has a broken CD-ROM (I hit it cuz of the terrible lag). How would i go about installing mandrake?

Only two options come to mind:
1) buy a better replacement for your CD-Rom.
2) FTP install if you've got a fast net connection.

maybe you should look after you hardware and you will have less trouble

lag better than broken

i have another laptop now.. i was just going to use that laptop to test out linux. I ended up dual booting on my primary laptop. By the way does anyone know how to find out what our kernel version is? Sorry for the newbie question
