"Init 3" Problem

Hi

I'm using Mandriva and wanted to update my graphics driver (I don't know why, it was just something I always did with Windows).

When I went to a site offering advice, one of the commands I had to use was "init 3".

Now when ever I start up, I need to login then type "startx" to get back into the lovely colourful GUI. Is there some command or some way to make it boot up straight into the GUI without having to faff around in the prompt (if that is what it is called in Linux).

Cheers

Dave

Solved

Silly problem - easily solved.

Should not dive in the deep end with linux and probably do a bit of reading as to what the commands do.

Anyway, all i needed to do was System>Configure your computer and select the Boot section and recheck the box that said to start graphical interface at startup.

Just thought it would be useful if anyone made the same mistake

just in case you're not using the same interface in the future, you can also change the runlevel by editing it in the /etc/inittab file. ;)
